Hey USG fam, my name is Fernando and I’m a current student in the communication program at the University of Maryland, College Park at the Universities at Shady Grove (USG). If you’re looking for engaging ways to meet new people and a sense of community at Shady Grove, my blog can definitely point you in the right direction.
Some of my lasting hobbies include participating in treacherous longboarding excursions, playing acoustic guitar and cooking Peruvian food. My most expressive hobby has to be writing. I enjoy figuring out ways to capture a reader’s mind and keep them reading while teaching them something new. I’ve written scripts for scary movies adapted from Stephen King short stories and creative fiction exploring questions, thoughts and ideas about who we are and what we’re here to do.
The reason I chose to become part of the Terp community has a great deal to do with the people that have laid the foundation for me to fulfill my educational goals. My time at the University of Maryland has been filled with many unexpected blessings. I’ve met organizers and advisers who have dedicated their time and careers to students and their success. The only way I can thank my family and friends who have supported me on my road to graduation is by giving back to the community that has helped me achieve my academic goals.
Whether I am at work or school, I always aim to bring people together through friendship and collaboration. I feel a great sense of community at USG and I’m excited to extend the invitation your way.
