I’m officially suffering from post-alternative break blues.
If you read my last post, you already know, but I spent my spring break promoting healthcare and preventing childhood obesity in Columbia, South Carolina. This was my second alternative break trip, and it was an amazing experience.
From measuring vital signs at a free health clinic, to playing with little kids at a shelter, I truly feel as though I’ve made a difference in a few lives. This break provided me and 14 others in my group a first-hand look at important issues that need to be addressed.
As a public health student, I feel even more inspired to finish earning my degree and make an impact in the healthcare industry. But, I’m still adjusting to being back home. It’s a bit of a struggle getting back to reality.
Volunteering over break is an extremely rewarding experience, and I highly recommend it to anyone, and everyone who is interested!
If you’re interested, our group was featured on the news in South Carolina.
