Yoga @ USG

Remember this picture? I can't wait for it to be warm enough for this again!

Remember this picture from my first post? Seems like years ago that it was warm enough to be going barefoot outside!

Back in my very first blog post, I mentioned that I enjoy doing yoga. I’ve known for quite some time that USG offers yoga classes at the gym, but I hadn’t had a chance to check one out until recently.

A few weeks ago, I was having a crazy busy morning and was feeling pretty stressed out. The semester had just started and it seemed like I was already overwhelmed. I was waiting for a Students Engaged in Public Health  (S.E.I.P.H) meeting to start and talking with some of my classmates. I noticed a few of them had yoga mats with them, and when I asked they told me they were all going to yoga class after the meeting. It must’ve been fate that I was already wearing yoga pants. A lot of students chose to bring their own yoga mat, but luckily for me, you don’t have to. There are plenty of mats you can borrow at the gym. So, with everything I needed for yoga, I decided to give it a try.

The class was a little over an hour long, and by the end of it I was feeling so refreshed. I appreciated that the instructor took into account that we are students with busy schedules, and really focused on relaxation. It was exactly the break I needed… and a decent work-out! The instructor was very accommodating of different skill levels, so I highly recommend trying out a class, whether you are a beginner or an experienced yogi.

I really enjoyed the class, and I’m hoping to make it back whenever I have the chance. Maybe I’ll see you there. Check out the USG Campus Recreation Center website and their group exercise class schedule. Have you tried the group fitness classes yet? Did you love it as much as I did? Let me know in the comments.
