Winter Not-So-Break

These last few weeks have been quite exciting. I’ve been working 40 hours and week and am amidst the second week of my 4 credit online macroeconomics course.

I know what you’re thinking.

“Wow, Dilani. That’s so much fun!”

Yes, yes, it is, Around the Grove reader. Here are some tips to better manage all this fun during your winter break if you’re taking an online class like myself.

Read the syllabus: If you’re a lazy butt like me, you often don’t read the syllabus. However, winter courses can go by very quickly. You have to read it. You have so much ahead of you for these three weeks. Know what you’re getting into.

So, time to get organized.

Winter courses are so condensed with a semester’s worth of material in merely three weeks.

Make a schedule: I am an avid iCalendar user, so I put the calendar from the syllabus right into my phone with reminders. Never will you miss an assignment, a discussion post, a reading, or midterm. It’s literally right in your hand.

So much excitement! One last thing.

Practice proper email etiquette.

Canvas isn’t Facebook. Make sure when you are emailing or posting on discussion boards that you are using salutations, sign offs, and of course, spell-check. Email is forever, so it is very important to make a good impression.

How are you all having fun this winter break?
