Welcome back friends!
I am still reeling from this year’s USG Fall Festival. In case you missed it (shame on you) on Wednesday, September 16th the court yard converted into a pep rally festival featuring inflatables, like you could ever be too old to throw yourself on one, and best yet, live music from our local radio DJ HOT99.5 cranking out the hits to bring the event to life.
I am always keen to attend any event hosted on campus, especially during this time of year when we are blessed with beautifully sunny, Maryland Fall weather. Tempt me further with food and I am guaranteed to show, throw in a vibrant atmosphere of funky carnival games, a photo booth to capture the moment, and information tables to learn how to get involved on campus and I’d be insane to miss out. As if it that weren’t enough the organizers had to take it to a whole new level, they challenged me to show off my school pride and Terp Swagger for a chance at a fantastic prize.
Those who know me can attest to my driven ambition to be the best. Entering the Spirit Contest for bragging rights was all the motivation I’d ever need, yet with an iPad mini, Beats wireless headphones, or a FujiFilm Polaroid camera on the line I had to smash the competition.
Terps can’t be reckoned with, we were rocking our school colors like its going out of style. But behind the red, gold, white and black you’ll find undeniable USG pride. I feel like I am the greatest Terp of all, distinguished because I hail from the Universities at Shady Grove. Call us the cream of the crop, the SEAL team 6, a cut above the rest. I am unabashed in my admiration for the students and faculty that make us great, lets create our very own identity! Here’s my call to action, lets present an idea for mascot and school colors to call our own. Fell free to make suggestions in the comment section below.
As always, I would like to thank everyone responsible for making this a truly memorable experience. The sad feeling that this will be my last USG Fall Festival was fleeting, I am left with only fond memories to carry me through this semester. Thank you all for attending, your contribution made it all the more special and unforgettable.
