Mubassira

Hi everyone! My name is Mubassira Nur and I’m a University of Maryland, College Park Public Health Science student studying at the Shady Grove campus. I recently graduated from Montgomery College with my associates degree, also in public health. After switching around a few majors, from computer science to environmental health, I’ve finally found my niche in the public health field. I’ve lived in Germantown, Maryland most of my life, occasionally moving once or twice in nearby areas. I aspire to be someone who researches and combats health disparities in our communities by using data as a resource. Then in the future, I dream of fulfilling my Master’s in biostatistics.

Being a part of the Southern Management Leadership Program, I was able to develop an entrepreneurial mindset which has propelled me to think critically and take risks outside my comfort zone. I want to use these skills to further my ideas on improving health starting at UMD and then gradually working my way up. As a student blogger for USG, I hope to inspire others to do the same. For the many students who stumble upon the Around the Grove Student Blog, I want to provide relevant, interesting, and entertaining information ranging from studying tips, to seasonal themed DIY lists, movie recommendations, activities, cultural facts, and more. Other than constantly thinking about the journey ahead of me, and the goals I want to accomplish, my free time is spent watching international dramas and films. I’m also a traveler at heart and hope to visit a lot of the countries still on my bucket list and experience different cultures so that I continue growing as a person.
