Welcome to all, and to all are welcome! My name is Jayden Carr, and I am a graduate student in the Industrial/Organizational Psychology program at UMBC. First and foremost, I want this to be OUR blog. We are all on this enriching journey together, to grow in knowledge and as people. Everyone reading this I want you to know that you are not alone. Although we all will experience our hard times and challenges, let us continue to smile and spread positivity. Because if I know one thing, I know this; your struggle is the bridge to your success.
On the off chance that you were curious, here’s a little about me. I was born and raised in Baltimore, Maryland. I attended Delaware State University for undergrad where I earned my Bachelor of Science degree in the field of Psychology. I aspire to open my own consulting firm specializing in helping individuals from underrepresented communities. Honestly, I have way too many interests for my own sanity sometimes. I love traveling, new foods, music, movies, anime, video games, sports (especially the Ravens), and that’s just what I can think of for right now. More than anything though, I enjoy meeting new people and having conversations. So, if you ever see me around campus, or just need someone to talk to, please do not hesitate to reach out.
I wanted to become a student blogger because I believe that there is so much beauty in creating new relationships and having new experiences. If I can be honest with you, I am actually very nervous about all of this. But just like I hope all of you are doing, I am not going to let any of those nerves stop me. So listen up! I want you to do me favor. At the end of every post, I would like for us to say this mantra together. When you say it, do not just utter the words; I want you know that every word is the absolute truth. Here we go:
I can overcome anything
I can achieve everything
I will stand for something
