There are two reasons why I attend events- knowledge building and networking. Yesterday, I noticed the postings on The Universities at Shady Grove (USG) Facebook page for the International Night event and immediately thought “I MUST ATTEND THIS EVENT” as it satisfies my reasons for attending. In case you missed all the postings on Facebook or the flyers posted on campus, I felt it was my duty to inform you of this event.

Happening today, Thursday 8^th March from 6 pm to 9 pm in the Conference Center at USG, building 2, MPR. Open to everyone, and when I say everyone, I mean everyone from students, faculty, staff and community to prospective students. Everyone is welcomed! And best of all, it is absolutely FREE.  Check out the poster below for more details.

I’m an avid learner, always seeking to expand my knowledge. And ever since I was younger, I developed an inclination to networking. I did it a lot, most times to the disapproval of my mother as like most mothers of children in third world countries plagued with poverty and crime, she was hesitant to have me out of her sight. So, when I learned about this event where I would get to basically travel the world in one day, get to taste international food and enjoy entertainment, I knew attending would be a must.

Through this event I would get to expand my knowledge by learning about different cultures and this would be a great networking opportunity, no doubt. Guests enjoy a variety of delicious foods from around the world prepared by students. Afterward, they are entertained by a dazzling Fashion Show in which students model a variety of traditional outfits. During the Talent Show, students share outstanding musical and dance performances representing diverse cultures from around the world.
