The Best Bites Near USG

As students, finding the perfect spots to grab a quick bite or unwind with friends is a crucial part of the college experience. After all, we all deserve a little treat here and there to reward ourselves for the hard work we put into studying and doing well in our classes! Luckily for us USG students, we have many great places to eat near campus. Here are some spots my friends and I go to whenever we’re looking to get some food or drinks near campus.

Black Lion Coffee and Cafe: This spot is a 5 minute walk from campus. They serve the best freshly roasted Ethiopian coffee. I also love their chai latte! Apart from drinks, they also sell sandwiches and paninis. This neat little spot has a great ambiance, perfect for relaxing and recharging. It’s also a great study spot.

Potomac Pizza: Craving a slice of comfort? Potomac Pizza is a local classic that has quickly become my go-to for delicious pizzas that never disappoint. This is a great option if you and your friends are looking to share a pizza! My friends and I are big fans of the margherita pizza and the spinach ricotta pizza.

Bethesda Bagels: This is another local classic. It’s a family owned and operated business that serves the best hand-rolled New York style bagels. For those early mornings on campus, this is a nice spot to grab some quick breakfast.

Hangry Joe’s Hot Chicken: When the craving for something spicy hits, Hangry Joe’s Hot Chicken is the answer. From mild to extra hot, each bite of their chicken is a flavorful adventure. The laid-back atmosphere and friendly staff makes this place a must-visit! I was also surprised to learn that they sell delicious bubble tea.

Krispy Kreme: This list would not be complete without including Krispy Kreme doughnuts! This is about a 3 minute drive from campus and is the only Krispy Kreme location in all of Montgomery County. Whether I’m celebrating a small victory or simply treating myself to a midweek pick-me-up, the warm, fresh doughnuts never fail to be a bad option!
