I am a first generation Guatemalan American and the first of my family to go to college and get a degree. I started my college career over at Montgomery College’s Rockville campus where I spent two years receiving my Associate’s Degree in Communication Studies. Those two years helped me understand the different ways communication has affected our society and how it continues to shape relationships among people and more. I had always wanted to be a Journalist after graduating college and I got the opportunity to develop my journalistic skills by joining “The Advocate” Montgomery College Rockville Campus’ newspaper. My News Writing professor also happened to be the advisor for the newspaper, and he helped me understand the ways of journalism and how to improve my writing so I didn’t end up getting chewed out by professional journalists! Yikes!
Being part of that team made me realize how much I really wanted to be a journalist after I graduated with my Bachelor’s Degree! I even took a student assistant position with the Center for Recruitment and Transfer Access (CRTA) to help them with their duties, one of which was to help form the E-Newsletter for the ACES program from which I am a proud member of!
I hope you all enjoy the blogs (and maybe vlogs too!) that I post on here! I am excited to start this new chapter and I can’t wait for what the future holds! If you have any questions or comments for my content, post them up and I’ll be happy to reply!! Stay safe, Stay kind, and always show compassion for others! 🙂
