My name is Gabriel Daniel and I am a twenty-nine year proud national of Guyana, the land of many waters, the only English speaking South American country. Last August marked the sixth year since I first left my small home town of Georgetown, a place where weekends were spent swinging in a hammock sipping on an ice cold coconut water, to embark on what has turned out to be the most challenging yet rewarding life adventure.
Motivated by my love for learning and my determination to be the best that I can be, I am now a full-time student at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore at the Universities at Shady Grove (USG) after successfully completing the associates’ degree at Montgomery College. I am pursuing the undergraduate degree in Construction Management Technology after gaining work experience in the booming construction industry and realizing that in addition to my previous degrees in both Marketing and Business Management from the University of Guyana, this undergraduate degree will make me more marketable to future employers and fast track my way to the coveted management positions.
Growing up in a small family oriented community, where the values of team work and respect for others were instilled at a young age has molded me into a young man who enjoys working with others. My willingness to work with others is exhibited in my pleasant disposition and friendly approachable attitude, something I have been told does not conform to what is expected for my zodiac sign Virgo. In my spare time, which surprisingly I somehow manage to have in addition to my academic and extracurricular pursuits, I enjoy playing board games such as scrabble, binge watching shows such as Suits, White Collar, How to Get Away with Murder and Power, and meeting new people.
I am very excited that I have the honor of being on the Student Council this year as I encourage fighting for what you desire and believe in, and this provides me with this opportunity to encourage, embrace and empower others. Life to me means friends, family, and adventure, and I am thrilled for the upcoming year.
