Stop Procrastinating!

Hi everyone, I wanted to share some words of wisdom and tips that have helped me keep myself accountable towards the end of the semester when it comes to procrastinating. Like many others, I have a ton of things to juggle—school work, responsibilities outside of school, some of which are positive stressors, while others are just plain annoying. However, I want to reassure you all that it’s perfectly normal to procrastinate; it doesn’t make you lazy, but human. It’s okay to want to have some days to relax and recharge!

  • Realize it and admit it to yourself: The first step to overcoming procrastination is acknowledging that you’re doing it. It’s easy to brush it off or make excuses, but being honest with yourself is crucial.
  • Start small: Break down your tasks into smaller, manageable chunks. This makes them less overwhelming and more achievable. Celebrate each small victory—it adds up!
  • Tell people around you about your plan/goal: Sharing your intentions with others creates a sense of accountability. They can offer support, encouragement, and sometimes even gentle reminders.
  • Have a goal buddy: Find someone who shares similar goals or struggles with procrastination. Check in with each other regularly, share progress, and motivate each other to stay on track.
  • Surround yourself with like-minded people: Surrounding yourself with people who are driven, focused, and ambitious can be incredibly motivating. Their energy and mindset can rub off on you, pushing you to do your best.
  • Remind yourself that it is inevitable: things have to get done one way or another. One thing I tell myself always is, “I don’t know how it’s going to get done, but it will be done.” This mindset shift can be powerful. Instead of dwelling on uncertainties or difficulties, focus on the end result and trust that you’ll find a way to make it happen.

Remember, it’s okay to stumble or have off days. What matters is getting back up and continuing the journey towards your goals. Keep pushing forward, stay resilient, and believe in your ability to overcome procrastination! You are all amazing whether you see it or not, I believe in you;)
