Greetings, friends!
All art enjoyers, today I have a special blog for you!
I had the unique opportunity to witness a captivating event at USG, where the Glenstone Museum and the Priddy Library came together to host the “Building a Caring Community Through Art” exhibit!
I’m excited to share a special highlight from the event – a spotlight on a remarkable student and artist, Jennifer Cueva.
Jennifer was the sole USG student participant at this prestigious gathering. Her artwork, titled “I am Home Again,” is an oil on canvas masterpiece that truly stood out among the displayed pieces. Created in 2021, the painting measures 20 inches by 16 inches and draws its viewer into a tranquil scene of natural beauty.
As an artist myself, I admire her intricate style, which gently warps the composition of the scenery into a harmonious and balanced visual experience.
Curated by Ariana Kaye and Yuri Stone, the exhibit aims to foster a community spirit through art, offering solace and connection in challenging times. Jenny’s piece resonates deeply with this theme. She describes her work as a journey back to calmness from the turbulent emotions stirred by the recent unprecedented changes in our lives. Through her art, Jenny aims to promote mental health awareness, depicting soothing scenes that serve as visual aids for mindfulness.
Her painting shows a serene river adorned with waterlilies under the gentle glow of an afternoon sun, inviting viewers to pause and reflect. It’s not just a painting; it’s a reminder of our shared human connection to nature and to each other. Jenny believes that it is this connection that unites us, helping us to find peace in the simple beauty of the natural world.
“I am Home Again” is on display at the Glenstone Museum Exhibit at USG’s Priddy Library, and is open to the public until May 10th. It’s a must-see for anyone who appreciates art’s power to heal and bring people together.
Jennifer’s artistic vision, coupled with her commitment to promoting mental wellness through her creations, makes her work profoundly impactful. It’s clear why her painting captivated so many at the event, myself included.
For those interested in exploring more of Jennifer’s work, you can find her on Instagram under the handle jennifercueva_art.
Whether you’re a fellow student, an art lover, or someone interested in the intersection of creativity and mental health, Jenny’s painting is a poignant exploration of the ways in which art can help us navigate the complexities of our emotions and the world around us. Don’t miss the chance to experience it for yourself and support a fellow USG student in her artistic journey.
Until next time, keep embracing art and its healing powers!
~ Gogo
