It’s a Wrap!

As these last couple of weeks of school approach quickly, I find myself becoming very excited for the senior events that will be occurring before commencement. Today I wanted to highlight two events happening that I will be attending to celebrate the end of my undergraduate journey at Shady Grove! It’s definitely a bittersweet moment, but I am so excited to see what these next steps have in store for me!

The Senior Cruise

The Smith Undergraduate Program is inviting all Smith Graduates to the Senior Send Off Dinner Cruise on the Potomac! I am very excited about this one, because I personally never got to do this for eighth grade or even high school graduation, so this will be the first time I really get to celebrate! I’ve also been on a boat on the Potomac before, and it is truly beautiful to experience. I can’t wait to do this with all my fellow graduates!

Smith Award Ceremony

The Dean’s Student Advisory Council at Shady Grove is excited to announce the upcoming End of Year Awards Ceremony, where we will come together to celebrate excellence, dedication, and achievements. This event is a special opportunity for Smith students to recognize those individuals who have gone above and beyond in their roles, inspiring others and embodying the values of our institution. I am especially excited for this one, because not only am I a part of the council, but I also get to nominate my friends and professors for awards!

Smith Commencement

Of course, to wrap up the school year, the Smith undergraduate commencement ceremony will be held on May 22nd at 9am, and I can’t wait to walk across the stage with all my peers! I hope everyone has a great end to their semester, and if anyone has exams coming up soon, don’t give up, you’re so close to the finish line!

About Ashlynn Battle

Hello everyone! My name is Ashlynn Battle, and I am a junior at the University of Maryland, College Park (UMD), at the Universities of Shady Grove (USG). I was born in, ironically, the Shady Grove area, and have lived throughout the Germantown/Gaithersburg area my entire life! I recently graduated from Montgomery College with an Associate’s degree in Business, and I am currently studying Marketing at UMD’s R.H Smith School of Business at USG. I am currently working for the Montgomery County Recreation Department, where I lead about 20 elementary school children through an afternoon of recreational activities. I enjoy going out to eat, hanging out with friends and family, traveling, drawing, reading, writing, and listening to music. Although my current favorite thing to do is take my four-year-old energetic Maltipoo to the dog park!
